How to Flash MediaTek Android Phones Using SP Flash Tool
SP Flash Tool is a popular utility for installing or updating firmware on MediaTek-powered Android devices. It can help recover a dead phone, repair software issues, unbrick devices, perform factory restoration, and even test device memory.
Important: Always create a complete backup of your phone before starting the flashing process.
Requirements
Before proceeding, make sure you have the following:
-
Latest version of SP Flash Tool.
-
A good quality USB cable.
-
MediaTek-based Android smartphone.
-
MediaTek USB Drivers installed on your computer.
-
Correct firmware package with the required Scatter File.
-
Stable internet connection.
Warning: Every smartphone model uses its own firmware package. Flashing the wrong ROM may cause boot issues or permanently damage the device.
Steps to Flash a MediaTek Device
Step 1: Install MediaTek Drivers
Download and install the required MediaTek USB drivers on your PC. Once installed, ensure they are working properly.
Step 2: Open SP Flash Tool
Extract the downloaded SP Flash Tool package and run the flash_tool.exe file from the extracted folder.
Step 3: Load the Scatter File
Inside SP Flash Tool, click the Choose button next to Scatter-loading File and select the Android_scatter.txt file from your firmware folder.
Step 4: Select Flash Mode
From the available options, choose Download Only mode.
Step 5: Connect the Powered-Off Phone
Turn off your phone completely and connect it to the computer using the USB cable.
Step 6: Flashing Will Start Automatically
Once the device is detected, SP Flash Tool will begin transferring the firmware files to the phone.
Step 7: Wait for Completion
Allow the process to finish without disconnecting the device. After successful flashing, a green checkmark confirmation will appear.
Step 8: Disconnect and Power On
Remove the USB cable and switch on your phone. The device should boot normally with the newly installed firmware.
If Flashing Fails
If the process stops or does not complete successfully, select Format All + Download mode and repeat the steps carefully.
Note: RomWala.com recommends using only official and model-specific firmware files to avoid software damage.
